We are happy to offer - here on Aidpage - free access to
information about over 20,000 largest foundations and
other grant giving non-profit organizations
reporting to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Included are grantors (grant giving organizations) with
assets of over $1,000,000. Also included are
basic profiles of over 45,000 grant recipient
organizations.
The total number of the listed grants is over
440,000 with over
200,000 grant recipients. The minimum size
of the grants listed is $5,000.
The single largest grant we have seen so far
is $302,476,000 given by
William & Flora Hewlett Foundation to
The Board Of Trustees Of The Leland Stanford Junior
University (commonly known as Stanford University). But
wait... there is more... in the same year (2003)... the same
foundation gave at least one more grant to the same Stanford
University... for the modest amount of
$76,272,000 only.
Don't be surprised by some not-so-meaningful categories while
browsing. We take them "as they come" from raw IRS data
sources. It should be noted also that nonprofit organizations
have a somewhat spotty record in reporting fully and
accurately their activities to the IRS (see related post on this problem). This
means that the information cannot be treated as final,
complete, comprehensive, or fully accurate. But it is the
best information available... from the most trusted sources.
Some of the data we purchased from GuideStar - a
nonprofit created specifically for the purpose of gathering
information about the nonprofit sector.
